Derrick Hampton, a Georgia native, has had his music appear in film and television, including such shows as "The Middle and "The Glades. He is a two-time Georgia State Champion in the noted Country Showdown, and he has won several other prestigious awards, including winning the 2011 NSAI/CMT Listener's Choice Award with his song "Angie's List that he co-wrote with David Banning. He placed in the top ten in the same contest the year before with his song "White Lines that he co-wrote with Jeff Anderson.
Continuing a strong year of 2011, he was chosen by ASCAP to be one of only 11 writers accepted to their inaugural GPS (Guidance from Publishers for Songwriters) Program, as well as being a finalist in the "Show Me The Music songwriting contest with his song "The Bartender.
He has opened for the likes of Daryle Singletary, The Drifters, Jerry Clower and many others. He has also played out at venues in Nashville, including being invited to play several times at the world-famous Bluebird Cafe. His writing skills are phenomenal and he takes great care with his song structure.
